Linear Circuits and Systems: Maximum of a Function

In electrical engineering, we need to study the load’s requirements to transfer maximum power from a source circuit. In such analysis, we end up forming an equation relating the power to the load resistance, and then need to solve for the value of that load resistance to maximize the power delivered. This video tutorial revisits the differential calculus topic of finding the minima/maxima of a given function.

Learning Objectives

After completing this module, you should be able to:

1) Differentiate between maxima and minima of a given function

2) Find the value of a parameter that maximizes a given function
