Stagnation
Point Let's go ahead and define the stagnation point. It's actually fairly common in fluid dynamics, this concept. So, it's defined as the point in the flow field where the velocity at that particular point is zero. It's actually fairly straightforward, right? Let's say that the flow comes over here and it will go this way, right around the cylinder. But right over here, the flow is going to stop, right? Because of the no slip condition. So, that point is called the stagnation point. Each component of the velocity, x, y, z, r, theta, z, to be zero at that particular point. And as a side note, at that stagnation point, the static pressure will be the maximum. |
